Politics, Government, and Morals... Oh My...

So, I'm feeling kind of guilty right now. The subject (subjects) I am mainly focusing on in school are involving things about society, government, politics, and morals. We had a "discussion" that ended up to be more of a debate if you ask me. The debate: Should morals and religion be included in politics and law making?

My standpoint? That is why I feel guilty. I don't really know where I stand on it. Sometimes I think "I think it's wrong, but people should choose for themselves"... But when you actually think about it, everything becomes a tangled mess. The points discussed most in the "discussion" were those of abortion and slavery. Not everyone is religious, not everyone believes the same thing about when a human is considered a human or a living thing.... But would that mean, that if someone believed it was ok to own a slave, that they should?

UGH! This made so much more sense in my mind... I think I'm going to move on before I make too much of an idiot out of myself.

I want to quote (Logan)'s comment on my last entry. It really is helpful, and kind of inspiring.

"Inspiration is like some wild, exotic bird that just sort of comes and goes as it pleases. Sometimes we work really hard running around and doing everything we can to find it and catch it but to no avail, and sometimes we're just sitting there and find it suddenly resting on our shoulder. Just keep living and writing whatever you can, and it will come to you. With inspiration, when it rains, it REALLY pours..."
It is almost depressing too. This exotic bird doesn't visit me as often as it visits others.... And the only skills I think I have depend on this exotic bird... Maybe someone captured mine and had a nice chicken dinner or something.

I'm going to end this entry here, sorry for my scatter-brained-ness....

I guess we're both suffering from inspiration deficiency. Everything I've tried to create lately has just ended up in or around the trash bin. I'm never short on ideas, though. Yep, plenty of ideas that seem to get me nowhere.

You're so right about having skills that depend on the help of that elusive bird. There are people out there who have intuitive skills to do things like file papers and install sprinkler systems, all highly practical in the real world. But people with artistic skills have to work AND HOPE for guidance.

One of us is bound to have a breakthrough sooner or later...

Nah, this is a good point. I wished we debated more in school. We usually stick to textbooks, tests, and.............almost a play on the three R's, but not quite. The two T's?

Cool description of inspiration! I can empathize...yeah...I kind of wish I couldn't.
